Outer Limits 4x4 Board

hiya guys
I'm hopeing some of you can give some advice on this prob
I have a 93 v6 3lt NH auto LWB
Well i seem to be useing water there are not leaks from the outside that i can see,temp stays the same,but........i have noticed some scum on the oil filler cap but not on the dip stick oil is clear and clean.
I took off the small hose that leads from the left rocker cover to the air in take just before throttle body and i had the same scum in the hose.
The tappets are now very loud but the car seems to run fine?
I'm thinking head gasket but due to the oil being clean i have no idea.
any thoughts would be great.

Dude i have the same problem. Apparently there is a hole in hte back of the water pump, not shore why but when stuff goes wronge it alows water out. The water runs down the exaust and evaporates.

Hate to tell you this but I recently had the same symptoms on my 3ltr .It was a cracked head .Took about two weeks before the water showed up in the oil and the car was still running fine when driven to the mechanic.
Klms was about 238,000 at the time.
All up costs to repair was about $1460.00. There is a thread with the costs on the other Pajero forum.

Mines actually slowly dripping water on Cheezy's workshop floor suspect it's the water pump though (done 165K's).

Might even be able to get over Safeway gutter when its finished....had a good laugh on that thread.!!!

Bloody hell Pickle dont say that ( just read that thread in the other forum) how did they find the crack in the head,compression tset?????
bloody pajero has only 172k,s on it and i drive it like miss Daise too
Just had the timing belt and water pump done on the bugger as well.....ohh well its off to the doctors hope they take medicare

We were not sure weather it was a head gasket or cracked head, either way the head had to come off. Ended up the latter, so got both heads done.
Water did not show up in the oil straight away.As the crack gradually got bigger it started to show up under the oil filler cap and dipstick.
Some suggestions that you should not get the heads done due to the bottom end not being to handle the compression. What a heap of crap.
She goes like the clappers now.

early cracked head diagnosis may mean you can get away with using an addative (chemiweld? i think i used) to cure the problem.

na bugger that it would just be my luck that it would go again while im in the middle of no were plus i dont like useing stuff like that rather get it fixed the right way.

Just been through it all also. Repaired a cracked head 12 months ago. Put in some "carglass" just incase, and that fixed it for six months. More "carglass" for another six months. Ended up replacing the head with a good non reco unit from a parts recycler. Re-coed it myself with new gaskets etc, (swapped "new" valves from last time). Head cost $300 to my door. Not a bad job to do. All up it took three days from start to finish, that includes sourcing and overnight delivery of the new head.

Well the pajero is at the doctors now and he has done a water pressure test and its fine he just about to do the oil pressure test now.
If it comes back thats its fine after reading what some of you have had which is similar to my prob do you think i should bite the bullet and get the heads ripped off and pressure tested for cracks ????and if it has got cracks what do you guys think or know of getting them repaired is this a good idea or just get a 2nd hand one and see if its ok?
I whant it fixed so that when i do go bush i know its going to get me home again with no probs....................in need of guidence....................
