'91 GQ central locking controller location

Hi,
Does someone know how to get to the central locking controller on a '91 GQ? Mine un-locks reliably but locks intermittently. Has anyone replaced their factory controller with an aftermarket unit?

The central locking controller is located in the drivers side door behind the trim. Oblong shaped black box thats connected to the switch panel in the door trim.
