Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I know this should be in wanted section but i figured id get better results here. I hit a stump last night and bent the out of my passenger side front spring. the shackle is now sitting flush with the chassis rail but at least i knocked the stump out that i happened to stumble across. Is there any 1 located reasonable close to me? How heavy are these if i have to arrange freight from somewhere

from your short message it sounds as thou all you have done is inverted a shackle, take a crow bar, and leaver it back down, this is really no drama at all, i do it alot,

I live in wagga wagga too, I am getting some parts sent down from Brissy (this week), The fella that has these parts will most likely have a spring pack, so if your interested I can see if he can add it in while im at it..

Onya Ozy we just attacked it with a bit more effort and it is all good now. Will just have to take a bigger bar with me next time

Drill a hole in chassis behind shackle in line with spring eye when its back and put a bolt thru with a nut either side.
Adj to contact eye just as it gets in line with spring pack. Voila no more inversion.

Just went for a mud run only to find when i hit the tar that i have inverted both. is there an easy way to turn these things around. as for the bolt in chassis idea,Your a legend but i was wondering if i fitted longer shackles will it fix it as well. (sorry bout the swearing but its a real pita)

If u fit 2 inch longer shackles to the front end u will be far LESS likely to invert a shackle, though is may happen still....... there needs to be a far greater force to do it, also if u remove a leave from each front spring while fitting the longer shackles, ur front end will be softer and your shackles will sit on a slightly less vertical angle towards the front of the car, once again reducing the chance of inverting a shackle.

Ive got a pair of 2 inch longer fronts sitting here, greasable if interested shoot me a PM, and i can freight em down..........

Finally fixed again!. My shackels are sitting completely vertical. That'd explain all the hassles i guess.No more offroading for me untill i get this sorted out . would the 2 inch longer shackles fix this much or would i be better off moving mount back a bit untill i can get serios with this puppy . The bolt idea doesnt sound too bad but i might just weld on a bump stop instead .

It sounds as though you have a bit too much set in ya springs. I don't think that a longer shackle will do too much to change this. (I could be wrong it is a while since I dealt with leafs)

I would get yourself some anti inversion shackles or as bazzle mentioned if you can put a bolt thru the back of your shackles so it hits the chassis/spring hanger before the shackle actually inverts.

If you have shackles that are just 25mm or so wide pieces of flat this may be hard unless you weld a tab to either piece and drill thru that.

You will see that a anti inversion shackle is normally a triangle shape to accomodate the pin to bang against the chassis.
Bumpstops wont help either as it is normally caused by a bump to the front shackle or when wheel has droped that the shackle will invert.

all is fixed for the moment. just welded a flat bar onto the hanger to stop the shackle going to far. abit of a bush mecanic i know, but untill i can get a few projects outta my shed thats how its gotta be. Oh well gotta find time for a test run
