Flying GQ, Big Red

OK so I finally figured out how to get the video sorted etc.
This is my GQ trying to fly over Big Red.
Vehicle weight was 2 tonne, speed about 95k/h. The bystanders estimated about 6' of air under the wheels.
End result, bent front diff funnilly enough.

Doesn't it suck and piss ya off that you could have done that a lot easier if ya hadn't of been flying over the first bump!!! Short run up for the second hump and you went over easy.

Sorry to rub it in bt.....

Bogged, My rego papers tate the weight as 1833 kilo's, add a bit of crap to it and my fat arse and you have about two tonne. I have been meaning to put it on a weigh bridge.

As for Fatassgq's comment, I agree with you completely, if had had a shorter run up I would have done it with ease. In my defense, ihad watched two other blokes on the chicken route run out of puff and i had also just unloaded a couple of hundred kilo of travelling kit, beds tents gasbottles, extra fuel etc so the pick up on the truck was a bit quicker than it had been for a couple of weeks. Ultimately driver error as I hit it too fast. Mind you it could have been worse as an extra 15k'h might have spelt a bigger disaster than just a bent diff.

that movie doesn't look like "the big red" , which direction were you going, east to west up the easiest side ?
bit hard to tell :?
but its still an awesome jump :D
you certainly lost speed quick

I was going West to East, admittedly one of the guys said it looked lower than he had seen it previously. I have other parts of the video that show the guys going up the easy bit, I just had to be the knucklehead.

Looked nice in the air.
Think I'd rather see the dirt fly thru grunt going up hill rather than landing tho
Don't know if it's just me, but sounded a bit weird afterwards.
Do much damage :? ??? :?

it sure changes, there was only one crest when i did it in 2002 and it had a large bowl area on top.
the east side had a double crest then.

The sounding weird was me bouncing off the rev limiter as I had the red mist up.
Damage equated to a bent front diff on the Pass side. You can see from the vid that the front pass wheel took the brunt of the landing, but it wasn't too bad. I got a wheel alignment and continued the trip up to Isa and then of to Ayers Rock and back to Syd via the oodndatta track etc.
