Lifting gear box and motor

Does anyone no how high you can lift the gear box and motor from stock position with out modifying anything to much on a 85 4runner.

do you have a body lift ?

if you use a body lift you could lift the engine/box the same hight as you do the body
that way theres no need to modify radiator hoses. metal brake lines around master cylinder. gear shifts etc etc


if your not using a body lift you maybe lucky enuf to lift the running gear up 1/2'' to 1''
without running into bonnett & gearbox tunnel
clearance isues

mate of my has a hilux with 2 inch body and 2inch motor lift, heaps better clearance without the standard hilux crossmember that hangs down, the only problem wich i know that he had was with the 2 piece tail shaft in lux was vibrating he changed to single piece and that solved that

My hilux has a 40mm body lift with 40mm drivetrain lift.
Lots more belly clearance plus no gear stick clearance probs because they are stock in relation to the floor (not that its such an issue with only 40mm).
Snake racing sells engine mount spacers for hilux that give the engine about 40mm lift.
I have heard of people lifting just the box and leaving the engine where it was but I prefer to keep it all level.

Without a bodylift you will have to do floor pan mods to lift the drive train.

If you have or plan to have Dual Cases you will have a prob with the horse shoe crossmember on a 4runner. The tailshaft is allready close to it with this set up and lifting the box only makes it worse.

hmmm yes I have yet to cross that hurdle. I have my dual adaptor sitting in the shed.

Paul with your extra wheelbase you should have no problems. The 4runner horse shoe crossmember is a lot closer to the transfer to start with.

Ok,What I got is a three inch body lift but want to put it back down to stock but going to replace the Gear box cross member so its flat and I think all I have to do is raise the gear box 2"and motor 3"
