Found this reference to a 5.125:1 (8x41) diff ratio from this site.
http://www.difflap.com.au/ratios/hi.htm

ISUZU 02/95 FRONTERA UT 8MB 25115,SPORT WAGON 8X41
ISUZU 12/95 FRONTERA, JT 8MB25F780549 8X41

I have emailed them to see if the ring and pinion sets are transferable to other Holden/Isuzu models. Exciting news if this is the case as it gives an option between the 4.77 and 5.38 ratios.

Fingers crossed... :D

Got a reply...

G'day Noel,
We have never tried to fit Frontera gears to a Rodeo or Jackaroo diff so I don't know if they are a straight swap. I do know the rear diff on the Frontera is a Salisbury type diff (meaning it has a inspection cover on the back) and the Rodeo and Jackaroos use a lift-out type diff (no inspection cover), I also think there are actually a different gear sets as they use slightly different bearings. I would need to get a Frontera and a Rodeo/Jackaroo gear set side by side and check out the dimensions on both. As a side note the 4.3 and 4.55 are not the most common ratio's, they are the only ratio's available as far as we know (and the only ones that Holden sell). I'm sorry I couldn't give you a more favourable response, if there is anything I failed to answer for you please email me again or call me on 07-3359-4701.

Thanks for your enquiry

Peter

Doesnt sound so promising if this is the case but it still warrants more investigation. :? So does anyone here have this model Frontera so we can find out?

Yeh, thats what I thought. The later model 4 door v6 frontera like your old one I thought had the dana 44 diffs with the inspection plate. Thought the earlier ones (Frontera sport) had the same 12 bolt diff as the Jackaroo, rodeo etc... :?

Ofcourse its possible this bloke could be wrong...

The UES V6 '99 Frontera definitely has a DANA 44 rear. Don't think the old models do though.
