Picked up a cv joint from the wreckers the other day off a 45, not sure if it was off a disk brake one or not, whats the difference in the cv joints? here are pics, so will it fit?

I'm not sure. I have been told that the 40 Series CVs I picked up the other day will fit my 73 Series.
70 Series runs Hilux Motor and Box (some of them) does this mean it would run Hilux diffs, and may be different, or does it have L\C diffs instead.
If you know that they are L\C diffs, then you might have a good chance.
Just some thinking going into it.
Can anyone else verify?

If the CV has a 30 spline outer stub shaft and a 27 spline inner axle, then it would fit. Depending on the year of your 70, this may be the same size or a bit smaller than the factory one:
Again depending on the year of your 70 the inner axle may or may not fit due to length issues:

The cutoff in 70/73/75 axles seems to be Jan 1990, when Toyota started using high pinion diffs.

Glenn yes that is the right CV but the inner axle may not be correct depending on what it came from. would have been smart to pull your busted one out so you could compare the inner axle length.

all hilux straight axles and 4x/6x/7x landcruisers '79 - '89 run the same CV joint (Birfield) (straight sides, 27 spine inner, 30 spline outer, no bead on the bell), with differences in inner axle length.

The longer ones are the 76-78 30 spline CV's. Are they really 25 mm longer? I have them in the shed but it's getting cold out and too warm and comfortable here, LOL

1/79> 1/90 are all the same CV joint regardless disc or drum brakes.
1/75> 1/79 is the same spline only 10-15mm longer which usually take the bolt&washer to hold on the freewheeling hub. I don't think toyota brung the cruiser's with a freewheeling hub into australia they all have aftermarket ones fitted.
