Just wondering how reliable are the 2.8 turbo diesel engines

Got a mate who wants 2 buy one which has 88k on it.
I have heard about one engine doing it's crankshaft at 80k. Is this a common problem :?:
What should he look for when hes checking the rodeo out :?:

Thanx

:D mate we have 2 turbo diesel rodeos one has 380000 ks on it used for work carries 1ton on all day everyday and has not missed a beat except for the oil pump on the back off the alternater(spelling)blowing seals but thats been put down the constant heat from the turbo the other has 215000 on it and it has not missed a beat aswell the first truck is 95 the other is 99 look for the usual stuff like leaks etc plus at 80000 ks its only a baby as for the crankshaft prob ive never heard of it before may have been other factors involved or bloody unlucky
cheers :D

Diesels are renowned for longevity and this one is made by Isuzu. These vehicles last forever.

My Rodeo is a 2.6L petrol with 150k I have seen them still chugging along at 350k.

The 2.8L diesel's are supposed to be better!

Go for it!

in the 8 years i worked for a holden dealer
i only ever saw 1 turbo diesel pulled out
of a rodeo. that was that long ago i can't
remember what was wrong with it.
i think there a great engine. with a bigger
exhaust and an intercooler of a jackaroo
there even better.
