I have recently started to use unleaded in my l28 patrol rather than lead replacement fuel, would this cause the engine to run warmer, as it seems to be since i switched over??
and
I am putting my TB42 gq in next week to get the carby overhauled and the ignition system tested as it has a flat spot and hesitates. Would it also be worth getting the valve clearances done while the mechanics got it???
Thanx

With my L28 I have dual fuel but I also use the Unleaded fuel when filling, but also use some of that fuel addative with it also. Not the Whins or what ever it's called, this makes it cheaper as far as I can tell.
The ones from Bursons or Super Cheap in the larger containers and then just add some.
I haven't had any trouble with it down here in Vic.
The octane as far as I know is:
LRP 97 octain
Premium 96 octain
Unleaded 93 octain
LPG 120 octain

And the tappets really are easy and if you havnt ever done tappets before a gregorys book and a few basic tools are all you need. i think settings are .32mm for both valves off the top of my head but you should check the book as i havn't done them for awhile. only bad thing about it is you have to do them when the engine is hot and its a real pain!
