The only one i ever heard of was "Howes Valley" it closed down a little while ago!

I cannot work out how a 4WD park near sydney cannot afford to stay afloat yet aloan make a killing.

Considering that QLD has 3 Major parks within 4 hrs drive and another 3 minor parks similar distance and they all seem to be doing well and in fact some of them are making a small fortune! If Brisbane and S/E QLD can support that many i really can not see how Sydney and area can't support at least one!

I believe these days for a Park to be successful they need to accomodate for everyone from Stockers to Tube buggys wanting to climb 4 metre near vertical walls, to find the terrain to allow this and yet stay close enough to sydney must be the biggest problem!

I would say public liability insurance would be the largest hurdle. Shame, none in Melb.

There was chat from a bloke on here once that was opening somewhere "SOON". about 12-18 mths ago..

The park at Howes Valley closed because of complaints to council from their neighbours.

Save your breath.. You can go nearly everywhere out there now in a commodore... and we did :D

There are no real hills out there (when I was back there last yr), went for a run out to the beach to check out a mates shack, its still there... but they wanted to charge $15 I think it was to get in!

In Brisbane we have access to-

Landcruiser Mountain Park
Black Duck Valley
Janowen
Rover Park
Arcot
Manar

Plus a few others I can't remember names of.

I heard Black Duck Valley was going to close down a few years ago but recently I heard that business is up and they are buying more property???

Plus some State Forests.

Also Fraser, Moreton, Straddie, Bribie and Double Island Point

Plenty of places to go around here :D

Yes i heard that was the reason, i find it a little funny though!

At LCMP he keeps all the access roads graded and in fairly good nic, so the neighbours don't really mind. In fact most of the time the local council does it for him simply due to the amount of revenue the park puts threw the local area!

For example, every time we go up to LCMP we have to stop at Kilcoy AND RE-FUEL and grab a snack to eat. On a big weekend (MB&M, Expo etc etc) this tiny town would have over 1000 vehicles pass threw to get fuel and supplies. Also after a busy weekend the local towing company rubs his hands together due to the large number of weekend warriors!

So the fact that half of this tiny town is making big$$$ out of this one place is enough for them to stand up for the park if ever there was a complaint!

Maybe Howe vally did not have the local community on side, if they did i think they would have seen the $$$$ value in keeping them there!

Obviously there could have been other factors, these are just my thoughts!

Im pretty Sure Howes Valley had Neighbours as in Next Door. LCMPs closest neighbour is another motor sport complex one side and then a National park the other.

My club had its birthday bash over the weekend just gone at Milbrodale. This is where the tuff truck chalange was held not that far past Howes Valley. I think it cost us $30 a head to the owner which also covered a couple of port-a-loos. The main restriction was we could not use the Tuff Truck Challange area but there was still other areas to play in.

I'm sure that one is still going and even though the areas are segregated, the view or idea of what could be viewed maybe a little too revealing for some family orientated wheelers.

all you seem to post about is driving on closed tracks, causing erosion cause it makes cool tracks, tearing down gates tec. maybe if you had a clue and realised this sort of behaviour causes areas to get closed. Wake up and try a little responsible driving

good answer idiot. While you go out wheeling illegally we will all suffer because you can't understand the damage it does for everyone else.

But hey have fun and enjoy yourself, don't worry about anyone else

River Island (the nudist camp) on Wombeyan Caves Rd is closed to 4wds. It was open approx 10 months ago, and he was charging $25 a head to get in, but now he just shut it down.
