Outer Limits 4x4 Board

We just had our 4b clubs birthday weekend. There were a few events over the weekend such as All Terrain - Unlocked and All Terrain - Locked. The mighty Raider got me around in second place in the All Terrain - Unlocked section

BTW apart from a Rodeao, all the other vechiles were Crusiers and Patrols

Just out of interest, how did the rodeo go?

when i did the uni 4x4 course the instructor pointed out a hill on the private course, stating his diff locked patrol with muds only just makes that hill, and he hasn't got anything else to climb it (it was part of his patrols rock, toyota's suck, anything else is useless talk). well not only did i make it in a dual cab courier 4x4 with highway terrains (was wet and slippery b4 any comments of dryness creep in) so did another girl that had only been driving manual for a few weeks, and had never driven anything other than a honda civic.

so, alot of it comes down to the nut behind the wheel.

I fitted twin diff locks and 33 muds to a turbo'd 5 cylinder swb cruiser.
The owner went out all excited to try it out ,but came back all dejected because with both lockers in on 33s he could not spin the tyres fast enough to clear them and found he could climb muddy slopes better with only one or no lockers to keep wheel speed up.
I eventually sold him 32s and he sold his front locker.

Yep, not even a scratch.

Did Todd roll it, break the axle and CV or both at the same time? also noticed how the front bar work pushed the radiator back into the fan. The moonster is going to be busy to have it all fixed for the challenge. He didn't think the axle/CV will get here in time so was looking at putting cruiser parts back in.

The Raider is still sort of for sale, not trying hard

Rodeo did not make the first turn to climb the embankment. It was not a vehicle or driver problem but a cage built on his tray. Was a little too wide/high to clear a couple of trees. There was only a couple of inches in it before the cage came into it. He ended up being towed out because the towball was too low and was hooking up on everything.

Nev, that thing of yours sounds like it ain't as bad as you think.

It might not climb telegraph poles, but if it gets you where you wanna go it's all good!

mate before i got my mav shorty i had a courier single cab.. i spent a day in the watagans and was towing and snatching the 2 hiluxs (early 90's solid axle 2.8d) i was with out of places that my courier made it through.. driver skill has so much to do with our sport its not funny.. i got told once that most 4bys are more capable than their drivers,,, and i tend to believe it...

i also think it pays to have a good, trustworthy spotter / winch bitch. A mate of mine is always my spotter, and there's been times when every instinct in my body was saying not to do something, whilst he was saying "do it!!" and it has paid off. just something to think about.
