has anyone here , modified there front end for more down travel on a Pajero, i was wondering what you did to combat the ball joint angle ?

Drilled out the top joint and A arm and spaced it down 1" with 10mm cap screws.Unbolt the lower shock mount from the A arm and space it 10mm to increase down travel.

from memory , the top ball joint is bolted from the top . Its a 93 mod , sorry shoul dhave added that . We have modified the bumb stops and taken a slice out of the chassis , to allow the top arm to come down more . We have acheaved a extra 40 mm down tavel from the top arms . Shockers are ok . The angle of the top ball joint is wrong and wont allow the arm to travel the full length of the mod . once its all assembled .

A common mod is to bolt the ball joint under the top arm,which raises the bump stops and arm allowing more travel.

After cutting down the upper bumpstops to about 8mm you can flip the balljoint. Instead of mounting through the top of the A arm mount from underneath and you can use a 10mm spacer in between. This will give a few more inches. There are some safety consideration with this mod as well. I think from memory you end up with around 10-12" of total travel with this mod.
Are you measuring with the front swaybar off ?? On Gen 2 Paj's they are very thick and stiff set up for road handling. If you run 31" tyres and under (without a body lift) you can hack off a bit from the lower bumpstops to achieve even more up travel before hitting the guards.
I got sick of all that though and are having a front solid axle put in at the moment

front sway bars and rear sway bar are off now , running 33" tires with a 2 inch body lift 2" suspention

Yep Cheezy is doing it now.
Basically he is using a re-tubed Hilux front housing with a Bundy HP centre it will have an ARB locker and 5.29 diff ratio. The front will be a 5 link set up. The rear will be an A frame set up with the Mitsu housing (5.29's were a factory option on some models).
There is a thread in the Mitsu section about it with pics.

This is a pic of a 92 Paj, front swaybar disco'd, TJM Series 2000 60mm torsion bar crank, upper bumpstops cut down to 8mm everything else (front suspension) is standard.
