Has anyone tried something similar to the post here:

It talks about 16.5" rims. The same would work for any rim I guess?

Cheers

interesting idea.
i sometimes use reversed disco rims and the outside tyre bead has too travel about 3" to push over the safety bead, which in itself helps to stop air escaping when the bead moves/breaks.
i know 2 guys running morrosso(sp?) bead lock screws in their tyres.
both vehicles are modded to the max (350, lockers, portals, crawler box, etc...)
38" swampers on rocky track (the hard way) 5 or less psi , front cv and rear uni let go as the same time. no beads popped.
aparently it was very interesting watching him back down (only had brakes)

The reason that they talk of this with 16.5" rims is because, unlike other sizes, the 16.5" rims are not safety rim style.
