p motor not p 40 motor

hi all

i seem to have p motor in my 1984 patrol lwb wagon,
im told that its a malaysian model.
and they said that i dont have a p 40 motor

my engine number has p and six numbers

not p40 and six numbers

can anybody please clarify this for me

Think this one has been discussed before. Similar but not identical. So long as you have model of vehicle and engine number you'll be able to get parts for most of it.

oil filter is different and is easiest way to identify the 2 motors. I describe it on Patrol4x4. Also the engine mounts are different, bell housing and some internal engine parts. Distro should be the same and so are some internal parts. But if you buy a P40 kit for a P engine you won't be able to use all the parts to rebuild the P engine right.
