Soundproofing a defender

I've found a couple of companies selling soundproofing kits for a defender: Noisekiller/BJAccoustics and Bearmach..........but they are expensive.
Can anyone suggest where I can buy soundproofing material suitable for this purpose (in Australia) that I could cut to size myself and do the job for a fraction of the cost?
I wanna make the cab as quiet as I can so I can install a nice stereo and actually hear it

There is stuff you can buy that is heat reflective with tar and liquid barrier
in the middle of it and is pretty much the best sound proofing money can buy - it can be had for $220 per sheet which measures 1000mmx1500mm (from memory - it has been ages since I purchased any)
Run that under everything if you want the best possible deadening.
When I did my '76 rangie I was broke so bought 6 reflective windscreen covers and two rolls of underbonnet adheasive insulation. I think it cost me $170 ish total. I took everything out and cut and stuck all the shades face down so they made a big sheet that could be removed. I then cut and pasted the underbonnet onto this "sheet" and re-installed everything.
Made a huge difference but it can cause problems with things not fitting back exaclty right - due to the 10mm of so of insulation you have added, carpet doesn't fit as well etc etc.

Richard at Ayers automotive told me about a guy who used lead sheet for that purpose in an '84 Rangie, but I don't wanna do that as my truck is heavy enough already!!!!

I know what you mean with the weight! I will try and get the details off a mate of mine who uses a heap of it tomorrow or monday for you
