Softened the rear spring in the lux... now bending.

I have a little problem.
I took a couple of leaves out of my IFS luxs rear packs to try and get a bit more travel, and it does! I can get about 14-15 inches of travel in the back now!
The packs are just the 4 top leaves with longer shackles to keep same ride height.
But the problem is now they are just starting to look a bit bent
.
Im thinking it is because of axle wrap. But Im also thinking it might be beacause when it flexes right up the springs go into negative arch by the time they hit on the bump stops.
I dont want to stuff around making a ladder bar just yet because Im not sure what Im doing with the rear yet (may go coil).
Somone sugested getting an overload leaf and cutting it so I was only running the front half of it to reduce axle rap without loosing flex. Good idea or not?
Also should I fit some spacers to the bumpstops so that the spring doesnt go much past flat on compression?
Is it too late to try and fix these springs? they are only a bit bent when you look along the length of them from behind. I would post a pic if they worked.
Thanks
Paul.
