Hi

Im looking at buying a GQ diesel patrol wagon. Found one on the weekend its a 1995 model diesel wagon. It had been a wreck, i dont know exactly how much of a wreck. They said it had bad paint, interior, stuffed bonnet and door, stuffed engine. They own a 4wd spares company and have done it up as a project. They are asking $13,500 for it which seems really cheap. Its got about 150 000kms on its clock. Interior is still a little ruff and under neath you can see its been bashed around a bit off road. It looks like it has a bit of a leaking rear main seal and also front axle seals.

What do you guys reckon, anything i should look for? It blows a bit of black smoke on acceleration is that normal.

Thanks

JAson

does it have log books?

i'm not saying that this mob did it but the clock could have been wound back!

150k isnt to bad probably best to get a compression test also on the motor if your keen.

If its been banged about a lot and its rough.. maximum would be 8 thousand.

15 is way too much.

You can get yourself a straight as TB42 4wd for 8k and buy a reco'd td42 engine and put it in for 5k ish and there u go.. a straight 4wd with a td42 for 13k...

$13500 is a GREAT price for a non smashed bashed, oil leaking bent 95 model, which are hard to come by.

But this one isnt one of them.

walk away from it, you never know how much of an issue it will be in a few mths time. those leaks maybe more than you think.

YMMV

also if u choose to turbo the motor i dont think the pistons will cope because it's after 93. i could be wrong or maybe u just cant run to high a boost.

have u also considered an import? around 8-10k with stuff km's on it
also check out clearance auctions !
