Hi Guys,

Anyone who has replaced these, can you tell me how much it cost you.

I have been quoted $530, which is same for SWB and LWB, they will take out the frame, build new Aluminium Frames, and reuse glass and rubber seals, even if the seals are broken, they said it doesn't matter, they can reglue them.

Anyone know of a good place to get it done in Perth WA.

Thanks

Andrew

I just replaced mine with one piece glass ;)

Much easier that way and no more rust. Looks heaps better BTW

I got a auto/boat trimmer to make up one piece windows with new seals.

From memory I think they were about $250 a side.

Is the glass just flat or does it have a slight curve? If it's just flat then that should be pretty easy DIY, especially if you were to use perspex...

Its the curved ones.

Off the very early model GQ's with leaf springs i believe.

Straight fit.

Following the instructions off www.gqpatrol.com under

http://www.gqpatrol.com/windowframes/index.htm

I proceeded to remove the window rubber seals inside the cab using my fingers and to my suprise it came off VERY easily.. just matter of levering the rubber seals and giving it a little push with a mate on the other side assisting.

and cleaned out the bare metal free of dust with turps and fortunately no rust.

Then following the instructions off gqpatrol.com... i proceeded to put the new glass on that i sourced off a guy who was wrecking his GQ.

I believe it was the early model leaf sprung GQ's that ran the one piece glass. I bought off someone in the FS section for 75 each glass including rubber which i thought was decent.

Looking at the finished product.. i think it looks WAY better than the two piece sliding arrangment.

I have access to a glass slump kiln. ie cut glass to the correct shape and heat up till it slumps over whatever shape you want. i may be able to shape the glass with a slight curve in it to make one piece rear windows.
would anyone be interested in a glass and rubber kit. i have no idea how much but they would have to be cheaper than what i have been quoted-$500 a side for a relacement frame and rubber(swb).

SWB and LWB frames are totally different, and differnet prices COMPLETE.

SWB was over a grand for one bloke on patrol list while back,... My frames, ready to go in were under $200ea while back. still have one to do at the olds place.

where did you get your frames from? was that rubbers too?
when they got frames in for me they got lwb ones for $250 including rubbers, i thought that was cool till i went to put them into the car and realised they wern't right. the sexatary rang up and asked if they could send swb ones and they said $500. i left with nuthin. that was 2years ago . i may try to slump some and recon i would probably pay $250? each if i was buying them. if its real easy they would be cheaper-i haven't even priced the rubber for them.
