I moved both locker switches the other day, a simple extension of the wires job, and now i have no parker lights, guage backlighting, 4wd indicator lights, and my central locking keeps unlocking (it keeps unlocking like every second)... I have double checked absolutely everthing i did, and I am stuffed if I can see what has gone on.

I hate wiring and fiddly jobs but after the past 8 hours looking for the problem I have resorted to a few rum and cokes...

Oh well... Auto elec man can fix it... Did I mention i hate wiring and fidley shite!

Did you disconnect the battery when you extended the wires? If soldering its always wise to disconnect the power source. You will note its also harder to solder when a current is running through the wire.

You may have killed a fuse somewhere along the line, or upset some circuitry. Sparky should be able to test to see if anything is cactus.

As for the central locking, that occured in my Mums camry when the battery short circuited internally and sent a few things hay wire. Maybe you shagged your battery in the process of extending the wires, or your battery is getting a tad old.

U may have shorted the wire that turns the lights in the locker switches on with ur headlights and blown the fuse, that would cause ur park lights and dash lights not to work.. dunno bout the central locking tho.....

Grant,

I moved my switches also, only problem i had was that I blew the glass fuse ARB use for the switches, couldnt find it either, took it back to ARB & they showed me where it was (in he bloody steering column well hidden) well didnt take me long to move that one . Apart from that had no probs.

BTW where have you got your swithces, I have mine in the middle console, the NL has a place for switches facing the shifter. Only prob was that they could easy be knocked on by mistake, so I now use my original factory locker switch to activate everything, ie compressor & locker switches, that way much harder to activate lockers by mistake.

cheers

moved the switches next to the steering colum. Air comp switch under the radio, adjustable ariel height to the other side of colum. Abs switch removed so I had enough room to mount them in there.

I wanted to hide them from anyone peering in through the drivers window. i dont even have the noise when you unlock the locker.

All is good. Was exactly what you said Ian. Simple...

That's where I have my compressor and front locker switches. I moved the antenna switch down under the radio, don't know what I'll do if I ever add a rear locker... :?

Hard to see from outside, and nice and handy off road.

Cheers,

Scott
