MQ Body lift ?

I have just bought a MQ short wheelbase. I am looking at putting a two inch body lift in it. I was just wondering if any one has any infomation that might help. I was looking at making the 2" blocks my self. What trouble if any might I find with the steering colum to the steering box. And will I have to get new raidiator hoses or will the standard ones strech.
I know they make body lift kits would it be just as easy to buy one other than making one?

I have just taken my 2 inch out after putting it in due to change of patrols - easy as job - hoses fine, no need to replace em. Take bottom shroud of radiator so fan won't hit it, slacken off steering column at rag joint where shaft slides in. get hammer and bash bracket that holds pipe going to clutch cyclinder, bash it good so it makes line slack - couple a good bashes make good. Whal - la! nothing more to do except enjoy!!!!
Me bash stuff good......uggg.
Oh I paid $20 a block from snake racing and bolts are about $70 or so - don't get hi tensile - go for 8.8 grade with nylock nuts. Hi tensile snaps under load where 8.8 has some give - rather bend it a little than snap it.
Best of luck dude.

Dude, read the bible and search! Lots and lots of ppl have done this already and a few have documented it. I made the blocks myself, and went into a fair bit of detail about the process in my member's thread. Might be worth checking out, even without the photos.

mate find someone who sells the nylon and get them to cut the blocks to length. Drill them with a drill press and your half way there. Mine cost me $60 for the 8 x 2" blocks if I recall right. The bolts should only be around $20 if you pay cash at the right joint.
u may have some trouble keeping your lever in low range after the lift, i cut a small amount of body away to help.
I've got my blocks sitting here unused now. You can have em for $30 plus postage.
cheers

As Heath said, there is absolutely Loads of info on this forum about body lifts on MQ's.
a few notes though:
- for a 2 inch body, the standard steering rad joint will fit.
- for a 3 inch lift u will need a longer one.
- your stock fuel filler hoses will fit for 2inch, but not for 3 inch
- radiator shroud needs to lose the bottom
- clutch line bracket needt to me bent or cut
- air filter ( if deisel ) piping between pre filter and main filter will need modding
- diff breathers may need lengthening
All other things are fine apart from the obvious of putting new bolts and stuff in

Well, the hoses only just stretch enough to get a clamp on for a 2 inch lift, your tank must have different length hose.... or pipes.
You r rag joint will fit for a 3 inch lift but there will be almost no shaft on it and it WILL break, there is a easy solution, just get a longer joint from another car

yeah i guess, my tank is abtually modded for the bodylift

well if the tank is lifted for the body lift of course the hoses wont need changing, it would be as if there was no body lift ( as far as the tank is concerned )

Had no problems with the rear mounts, The ony thing that I missed was I nearly pulled my clutch line out. Had to remove it from the mount on the fire wall. Now I have to get the leafs reset 2" above standed. The front have sagged that bad my tyres still hit after the body lift.

Dont waste ya time getting em reset, they'll only droop again. New ones arent that expensive in comparision .....search the bible for manafacturers .
