Looks about the same height as our stock suspension NJ 3.5. Your probably looking at the older 3L model and comparing the height of that. The 3.5s got a 30mm?? Body Lift from the factory, so that makes a notable visual difference.
As for the carbon canister ours also doesnt have one connected to 'Carb'... So it probably wasnt meant to be connected to anything, so no need to stress about anything there.
Looks like its time to mod the car ey
P.S. If you go for dual batteries, you can plonk the carbon canister right down the bottom, in front of the radiator and to the left. Theres 2 bolt holes that are perfect to attach the mount to. The bash plate protects it from anything coming through and taking it out.

Looks standard to me, the 30mm body lift in this model combined with the small standard tyres give it a tall look. You can fill in the gap above the wheels with a good set of 33's or 285's and also get a lot more clearance downstairs. Looks like a nice truck.

ahhh so it higher then as it has a standard body lift - well i didnt know that
After i fix the flashing super select in 2h mode, new tyres and bullbar and snorkel are the first mods. Do you think the standard side steps are enough protection?
Battery and rack will be next.
Not so much going hill climbing, but on a few camping adventures...I will be driving this to work a lot more than i will be in the bush.
33??? So what tyres will i easily be able tio fit under without rubbing, off road tyres like motorbike tyres, they just get shredded ont he road? Whats a good tyres for both road and bush, or if i can find a cheapo set of rims whats a good off road only tyre - it also has to be the cheapest

Begbie, all 3.5 V6's and 2.8TDI's have a factory 30mm body lift over the early models this was to fit the larger 5sp and t/case.
This is achieved by welding the body mounting oints on top of the chassis rail as opposed to the side of the rail.
Yours will be able to run 33x12.5x15" tyres with a slight cranking of the torsion bars and trimming of the front bumper ends. If you get a bullbar then no probs. The factory side steps with 33"s should be ok for medium stuff but beware they will scrape and get hung up on things maybe remove them for offroad work so they don't get destroyed ??
The missing vacuum line is ok it labelled "carb" for carby models they obviously used a generic carbon cannister to fit a lot of different models (EFI, carb etc).

I would rather replace the factory side steps if they are no use? Would a set of tube type ones protect better? I dont really want any dinted sills, so better to leave them on for the time being?
Started looking through the yellowpages for second hand Pajero bits, but thought maybe some of you know some less wellknown/not advertised places i may pick up a winch bar cheaper, or get a good snorkel fitted, or score some cheap tyres - is it obvious i have blown all my cash buying this thing
I am not about to wander in tyrepower and ask for fat tyres off the shelf....
I am down Frankston way...

ebay usually has good stuff for pajeros. particularly 91 models onwards.

Is it still necessary to trim the front bumper ends with a 2" OME suspension lift? I gather the torsion bars are cranked as part of the lift.
WRT a 2" OME lift I have heard that the lift is 40-50mm at the back, but only 20mm at the front. Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

30mm body lift.. that would certainly help... what is the ramp over angle on the 3.5 compared to the 3l ?
