i have a 1984 troopy and want to know what kind of spare wheel carrier do i
install, i have seen the swing out kind but im wondering did this model come with the one that bolts on the rear end, and if so where do i bolt it to ie left or right side on the ambo doors, or bolt it to the rear body. i want to keep it as original as i can.
thanks.

There is a genuine Toyota wheel carrier that bolts to the right rear door:
The problem I read is that with a lot of use or with a large heavy tyre, the rear door hinges tend to crack or bend.

Yep, it mounts on the right amby door. The left side door is too narrow to mount anything but a low profile rice rocket tyre, LOL. Even on the right side the size is limited by the width of the door.

If your troopy is a 45 or 47 series, the only carrier they came with is a swing out mounted from the left side. The one in the picture apears to be off a 75 series which had a larger R/H door than the left. The 40's had 2 doors the same width. The original carriers bolt onto the rear corner of the body. I've got one in Sydney if that's any help.

Oooooops, my bad! toyotroop's is an 84 so it is the 45 or 47 with the equal rear doors. Sorry, forget what I said...
