We're taking on water captain!

Post by stu »

my car leaks.

it seems to come in from the dodgy plastic thing on my bonnet, possiby an air vent intake at the base of the windscreen (coiler model - dont know if the leaf spring model has this) it then finds its way behind the dashbord and then runs down the cabin side of the firewall / footwell.

god damn it! :x

i have a leaf model so i dont know if it would be the same but
where the plastic grill comes down inside the body there is a connection to a 90' bend that than goes to the out side of the fire wall (engine bay)
if this is not on properly than it will leak just check that it is hooked together and the water flows in to engine bay not your floor!!!
it is preety high up under the dash so u just have to get right in to see it

I get the same in my 87 model. During a heavy rain I get a constant stream of water into the drivers side foot well only. During one particularly heavy storm i had a bout 4" of water in the drivers side yet the passenger was nice and dry.

I just don't wear shoes in the rain :finger:

I have a 85' high top and have the same problem, Waiting for the next rain to see if i have fixed it. I found it to be that bend of tube and also around the heater connections.

Also i have water coming into my glovebox. (Any ideas)

Rust is also a problem with mine so water comes in on its own accord

cheers

I had the same problem and fixed it. There is a plastic tube/pipe that lets the water from the air vent flow out through the fire wall. It will have come off. It is right up the back of the dash. I just put it back on and the problem was fixed. No more wet feet.

Funny times....
I had the zook parked on a bit of an angle on the driveway when it rained the other week. Went to move it in the morning and i had atleast 3 inches of water only on the drivers side floor. Thought at first it may have been the hardtop leaking but now im thinking otherwise. I'll fix it one day, a leaky cab doesnt stop me from hittin the dunes or throwin' it nose first into the deepest mud i can find.

if its a soft top , it could be the seal between the screen & the body !!!!
if its a hardtop , like everyone said , the water drain for the heater vents !!!!
if the hose is off , refit it !!
if the hose is on , pull it off , & check for any blockagees !!! , ( ie. leaves , mud etc !!!!! )
