sounds stuffed to me. new pump price from repco @$105, nissan @$135 and bursons@$150. personally i wouldn't use a secondhand water pump on a rebuilt motor as it'll probably just shet itself as well, and for the price of a new one it's a lot cheaper than rebuilding your motor again. plus you get a warranty on it. your call.

I brought a genuine one and it came with a gasket and doesent leak. I paid about $130 from memory and it came with a 1yr warranty. The first one lasted 13yrs, the 2nd hand one I brought lasted 6mths. So I expect this one to last another 10+ years.

I think repco did one with a 2yr warranty for $150 and they also had one for $115 with a 1yr.

Tom,

I had the same problem after my re-build. It seems to happen on pumps that have been sitting around for a while. You cant re-build/replace the seal. As Turps said, its best to go to the Ni$$an dealer and get another one. Yes i know, its a pain in the bum after shelling out all this $$$ for the re-build only to have this happen. The price that Turps gave is the right price and does incluce a gasket  It might be a tin gasket, rather than the paper type which comes in the gasket kit..

If your water pump is going to be sitting arround for a while leave it in a bucket of water to stop the seal drying out.

yeah, pump is stuffed, and id have brought a new pump, id almost put money on the fact that you second hand one is probably stuffed or close to it.
if you've done the rebuild why cut corners on a water pump? its an extra $150 odd, especialy when a doggy pump could cook you motor and then you have wasted all that money on the rebuild!
