Intercooled ZD30 Navara

Guys,

Just finished intercooling my '04 Navara. Although there is plenty of room for a front mount, the pipework would be a nightmare cause of the massive radiator and condenser blocking all pipework paths. The next option was top mount, but i fear they dont work particularly well especially when hacking around sand dunes were speed is low but revs are high so I decided to go water to air. Ive used a Subaru Liberty RS intercooler, it's radiator with 12" thermo, Flojet circulation pump and Hobbs switch to activate pump when engine comes on boost. Parts cost as follows:

Cooler = $100
Radiator = $100
Thermo = $90
Pump = $165
Hobbs switch = $10
Hoses, clamps, relays etc. = $100

Total = $565

Ive spent about 20 hours making brackets, modifying inlet and outlets of cooler, wiring and installing.

Next mod is Dtronic computer, see how much power I can screw out of this thing :twisted:

If anyone would like some pics I can email to you, cant seem to post attachments here now? :?

G'day skip,

I recently bought a new navara and was reading your post....VERY INTERESTING!!

How does it go now power wise. Is there a noticable difference.

Info would be cool.

Cheers

Shortly after I fitted the cooler I also fitted the Dtronic computer. I don't know what sort of power increase i got, i should have done a before and after dyno, but the car definitely feels stronger.

The proof will come next time I tow my boat a long way.
