Broken engine mount...
Broken engine mount...
How big a deal is a broken left engine mount?
Will it kill anything else if left (like me!)
I'm not sure how long it's been bad, mechanic pointed it out after last service.
Are they easy to replace ie do you hve to lift or support engine whilst repairing??
Any advice would be great!
Cheers

They are not all that hard to do, (by left I assume you mean the exhaust side mount) breaks fairly regularly in my experiance ..
The motor in the zuk is light enough that an average guy could lift it enough withh one hand to pull the old mount and slip a new one in, if not offer a mate a beer or two to help with the job ..

Just for those that might be curious.................
Sierra engine mounts tend to break on a regular basis. If you remove an engine for any reason from a Sierra, you can be guarranteed that every one in two vehicles will have a lefthand engine mount inner that will be broken and need replacing.
Replacement Sierra engine mounts-$30.00 each or alternatively, heavy duty Sierra engine mounts-$57.00 each, available from 4WD Warehouse-Hard Parts, Blacktown. 02 96221000.
Todays trivia question:
Name a common part between an LJ50 and a XL7.

No, there is a big difference in engine mounts between a 50' and an XL7. Do love the L' but that isn't a part. We'll take the next ten callers.

Engine mounts
Has anyone substituted another type of engine mount in this application? Something a little beefier that will hold up to the power of the G13 Seriously, it seems a very common thing so it would be nice to use something a little heavier in there. What would be good is a mount that has a 'lock' built into it, so even if the rubber fails the mount will not come apart. Anyone know what I am rambling about?

You can and I will be soon welding a 2 pieces of chain from one side of the mount to the other and it allows the mount to flex and not to the point of snapping. You weld on two interconecting links so it has freeplay in normal driving. OO
cheers
