need to do something to get the rear of the lux flexing. At the moment i dont want to lengthen shafts or change spring mounts.

ive read about putting IFS springs in or Mazda's. anyone got any idea's of the pro's and cons of each??

Could i get away with just longer shackles?? and no wrap bar, or is this a must??

to get better articulation yo need softer springs. the downside of softer springs is that they will wrap. if you're not after too much lift maybe consider a set of parabolics, they are a good compromise between soft and wrap resistance. can get about 2" lift with them.

lengthening your shackes requires engineer's approval but provides some extra height and softness.

How does your rear shackle sit at the moment,Vertical or on a angle

on a slight angle. something like 25 degrees from vert.

As far as i know the rear springs are original toyota one's and are pritty stiff.

what planet are you on? you definitely do need engineering approval for extended shackles of any kind. you can choose to run them without getting it engineered, and run the risk of being defected, having insurance claims refused etc...

It is illegal, I think you will find, to run extended shackles even with engineer approval, in NSW (special RTA requirement- like rims must be less than 8" wide).

That said, when I asked the RTA technical hotline about the factory shackle length for a particular vehicle, their reply was "we do not keep records of shackle length for any vehicle... we rely on (police) officer's to pick up on obvious examples of extended shackles"

When pressed further about what was "obvious" shackle extension, he said "rigs with 200mm long shackles or more".

So DON'T make your shackles stand out!

true. same as for wheel spacers. however some engineers have been known to approve all of the above - 10" wheels, shackles, spacers etc - and when cops see the certificate, they have to abide by it.

heh that's a pretty long shackle, but I reckon MY45's rear shackles are longer than that, with engineer's approval. It also depends how you make them, if you go to the trouble making htem look 'factory' then you're less likely to get pinged than if they are just square ended slabs of steel.

So your saying i just keep my original springs and just add extended shackles

Or do i go to a mazda or IFS spring with the extended shackles??

By the way the front has had a 50mm spring lift and she sits level at the moment.

you can get shackles that are already engineered approved but not approved for the car. same as rims with the centers cut and flipped. you can get the rims engineered but that doesn't mean that they are legal, increase in trackwidth

the springs at the moment have 9 leafs in total. the bottom 3 are short and are over load leafs. They are a mixture of 6mm and 7mm for the main 6 leafs.

I just put a set of IFS springs in my rear with 50mm lift blocks and 200mm eye to eye extended shackles. Shackle sits at a good angle and truck is level........is nice and soft too! Will be doing an anti-wrap bar of some sort very soon.

If ya want some pics send us ya email addy and ill send ya some
