Tyre problems

I am running 31/10.5/15 Kumho AT's on standard rims @ 40psi. They are wearing badly on the outside.
I had the wheel alignment checked on the weekend and it came up spot on.
Tyre guy said it was because the tyres are too big for the vehicle. 267/70's are smaller diameter and width. 31's are "walking" from side to side of tyre when turning.
He also said the Paj would use more fuel and not have as much power
Anyone had this trouble, or is it just the Kumhos??

Just personally, I think your wheel alignment fella is full of it! 31x10.5-15 are pretty close to a 265/75-15 in the new money, so the width difference is negligible. The extra height will have a minor effect on scrub radius, but that will make your steering heavier and shouldn't cause wear patterns such as you are describing.

Try to find a suspension specialist to check your alignment, not a major tyre chain. Ideally, somebody dealing with 4wd suspensions, not rice burners. An independent tyre & mechanical place which sells a lot of 4wd tyres might be able to help too.

Good luck,

Scott
