what are peoples opinions on the warn high mount versus the low mount high speed 9500lb. in the specs the high mount is slightly faster without load but under full load the low mount high speed is quicker. also what do ppl know about the old 2ish hp motors versus the newer 4.6. i heard that the 4.6 was more prone to burnout if stalled. is tis true?

apparently the brush holders on the new ones are prone to twisting when overheated.
mines only a standard old 2 1/2 hp but as it doesn't get used much it will have to do.

Big Red has it in one.
My XD9000 had a 4.6 fitted when i bought it new and after only 5 real hard winches(i dont get a little stuck  ) it was burnt out when i put it in to a local guy for repair at West End in Bris it had melted all the brush holders because it is only plastic and then turned all the brushes sideways.
He moded a 2.5 motor for me and it is now approx 5HP and works unreal and i have had no probs with it since and it has done some real hard long pulls where i have had a totaly disabled rig.

I picked up an old 8074 high mount ( must be 30 years old now ) and its still totally original. All I've done is replace the bearings and brushes and it runs like a charm :)

I know your not lookin for a 30 year old winch but surely mine is a good ad for the life you will get from the high mount as they haven't changed alot over the years :D
