Towbar Questions

I am gonna buy a towbar this weekend. I notice there seems to be 2 types for the 99 Paj. Mine is Escape.
One that is a replcement for the standard tow hook thing, so its 4 bolts onto the back of the rear bar.
OR another which bolts up under neath, wheich seems to span almost the width of the rear of the car.
Is there any difference? DOes one have a bigger load capacity?
Mitubishi quotes 120 for the 1200kg towbar, they used to ahve but not longer make a 2500 kg one.
Also, for the tow plug do i need to get one fitted and hard wired, or is there such a thing as a modular/plug in type one that can be purchased and plugged in?
