heya...
the old man an i did a SOA on his 2F 60 series over the weekend..
al went pretty good but have a few issues that we have solutions 2 but just wanna check if any1 else has other ideas that may b better.
wif the truck siittin at ride height the front shaft hits the crossmember and cannont b connected 2 the diff flange..
wot we wanna know is, is it best 2 notch the crossmemeber out until we get the shaft 2 clear at full droop ?? or should we space down the crossmemeber and then space the gearbox/t-case back up ?? or a combimation of both ??
if any1 else has come across this or know any other options i have not said please post up...

just notch the cross member. unless it looks
like it'll take to much out. then try the combo.
or completley fabricate a new one.

will the front shaft be long enough even with the crossmember notched? perhaps a combination of a slight notching, plus a tailshaft spacer at the transfer case flange would be effective? Here is one I did on matty's 75 series, you can't see the notch but it is only the spot-welded flange cut off so the thick section is still all intact, then welded over to close it up tidily. It didn't really even need the notching except with the front axle at absolute full droop.

happened to me, this problem did. a combination of notching your member
, tailshaft spacer, and double cardinal worked for me.
I'll take pictures 2 moro

another spacer? yeah I think I've got bits lying around to do it. how long do you want it? say fitty bucks? might need to redrill it depending on which 60 series flanges I've got.

good chance it would be the same as my old diff being a 2f would be around the same time mine was produced and i have had problems with the newer 60s flanges

also is the front shaft a double cardan type and if it is, does it have the same flange as the regular unis, or is it a wider flange?

no its single unis both ends, the old man found a shaft he got from another 60 that is double cardin and we gettin a new shaft made 2day, the bolt holes dont line up tho but just gunna knock out the stud on the t/case flange and redrill them 90degrees from the originals..
i have also notched the crossmember but the uni at the top binds b4 suspension reaches full droop so i still cant c if its gunna hit crossmemebr yet

if the top uni is binding it's possible you haven't rotated the diff pinion up enough? have you done a shackle reversal? (makes it even more difficult to get the angles good) if you're going to go with a double cardan shaft, use the hilux ones, they tolerate far more angle than the 60 series ones - don't remember the numbers but seem to think the hilux one is good for almost twice the angle of the 60 one.
cheers
Brian

havent done a shackle reversal yet that will come later....
and yeah im pretty sure the uni we got is a luxy
