Now that all the old threads seem to be almost permanently without pictures.. it will be a shame to lose classic threads like this.

It comes in handy when you need to show that a diesel rangie can beat a portaled V8 hybrid in a tractor pull...

If they are any thing like your Avatar that could be considered a relief.

Where is your positiveness that the pics will be back?? If you accept that they arn't coming back maybe the owners of the board will think 'well the members have accepted pics won't be back lets not bother getting them back up and running'.
Be positive and have some faith

I reckon if we all bought 1 outerlimits sticker... they could make enough money of the small profit to rectify the problem..

Ppl have offered money (to help get pics back up) and they've said they don't need financial help (it's in the pics thread i thinks).

I guess the issue about not having pics really comes back to time and money. We do in fact need money to properly rectify the problem. Basically this site chews shiat loads of bandwidth and with the pics it chews even more. I think that the site could be financially self sustaining (like pirate) with a system like their member fees and adds and vendor sections but for us to have a setup like that requires time (to add more features to the site to include these things). Im guessing that Carl (who hosts and maintains this site) is flat out with the part of his buisness that actually makes him money (as opposed to us - we dont really make him any money especially considering the bandwidth that we use).
At the moment we are basically just running on his "spare bandwidth" which is why we have lost the pictures for the time being. As long as we dont put to much of a load on his system we can operate and we can operate cheaply. But to move forward from here and pay proper commersial rates for the site is a big step forward. Not only in terms of the dollars involved but also in terms of the amount of work needed to turn this site into something that can pay for itself. We need to charge membership fees and advertising fees and to have these features on the site (members and adds). To make this happen requires time and effort and I guess we are all too buisy doing what we do to pay the bills.
I do believe that this site does do a lot of good work and that it does have to potential to be financially self sufficient. Im confident that we will get there and we will get the pictures back. Just a matter of time and money.

good post sam
its not hard to sign up to 4wd links to link pics, people are obviously just lazy
almost every internet connection comes with space for a homepage for the user where they can also host pics from.
