Peoples.... I know this seems a might crazy but I am lookin at buying another patrol and want some advice (I have lost count of how many I have had )
Its gonna be a SWB MK/MQ L28 4 speed.... ya!
I see mags show poeple "Budget Build Up" for under 10k but I wanna do one for under $2k AUD with rego, stereo, lift, muds, paint, interior and customisation to a little extent.... I wanted to know if anyone out there would like to see it documented - start to finish it will take me a day to do I think.
Basically I want a cheap 4x4 to thrash without worrying about breaking something... I want something that is not over the top but just FUN! I love playin in mud and sand and rocks but I want a truck I don't have to care about hey... It will be all legal too...
there will be just 2 of us doing the build and it may end up just being me in the end but it will all be photographed including its initial run in the mud for little regard of new paint....
I know it seems silly but anyone be interested in seeing it done???
Maybe someone else would be inspirred to create a budget beater....???
Let me know....

Yeah - Interior is $80 bucks worth of 1.6mm sheet aluminium cheqa plate
Paint is $95from Paint supply shop (3 litres of olive drab matt)
Shakles are $100 from sheet metal mob who promise a 4 hour turn around time if I do it - these guys are excellent.
same with bodylift being about $50 worth of alloy - my mates dropsaw and drill press with $60 of bolts.
Rubber and rims I get on saturday from outerlimits for sale $250 BARGAIN!!!!
several 4 inch grinderblades, bog, wet n dry and primer is gonna cost me $40 fomr super cheap
Rego is $620 incl green slip n pink slip
Weldin stuff is on loan...
Only thing that is pre fabbed is wheel carrier mounting point for tray.... Not sure it will be registered on the same day but should be finished I hope....
Just need a decent starting point for it.
Cheers
Mark

Go for it dude
Be interesting to see how far someoen can get.. you should log per hour and take photos at each hourly break, seeing how you go!
1 day.

Yeah - its gonna be fun!!! Will take photos each time and date it accordingly.... lucky I will get a petrol not a diesel!!!! would end up black as workin on diesels again.
All I gotta do is find a body with stuff all rush in floorpan - -got complete set of panels for it but they will have to go on and get painted too...
Rattle gun is gonna save me a lot of the time spent but...
Any help locating SWB Patrol in Sydney/Gong would be good people...
Cheers
Mark

Try and get one with power steering, might have to go mk.
Get a swb piss off the roof and go nuts they are awesome.
Just whack some 33 simexs on there and weld the rear diff and maybe front..
My old mq was great fun just watch your fingers with no power steering and also waterproof the dissy and leads so you can hit the water. also extend all the breathers up into a snorkle
