alternator tip

disconnect battery b4 trying to tighten the belt in the dark, you might accidently put the socket on the output bolt & touch the engine with the socket handle & tear a finger nail. OUCH

you don't need to lift the whole battery connector, you can usually just pull the alternator fusible link, that way you don't lose your radio presets etc.

Hrm... have heard stories of 25" Shifters vaporizing on the high current power cables under the city.

Why is the shifter any where near live power cables anyway ?

With a loud bang too id recon.
I once shorted all 3 bus bars (3 phase) on the main switchboard to a building with a commercial kitchen when i was an apprentice.
It blew the under ground fuses two blocks away.
