Reversing Lights

I'm going to put a pair of small spotties into my rear bumper as reversing lights this weekend.

On the wiring side, should I just wire up an on-off switch to the relay or was thinking of running supply power to a relay via on-off switch in the cab and another from the existing reversing lights to the relay so they only function when reverse is selected. :?

Thoughts please :?:

I ran mine so that they feed off the reversing lights. Switch on the dash disables them (so they can be used only off rioad of course) Used a relay and have hidden it in the rear qtr panel

Mine is switched on by a relay which is switched by a 3 position switch.

up = on with reverse lights
mid = off
down = on whenever I want them on.

I also put the switch on the RHS of the steering column so I can switch it on and off through the window without opening the door.

Legally you any light on the rear of the car has to be wired into the reversing lights.
But that doesnt mean you cant run a switch to the dash to blind that dumb fuck behind you that doesnt realise his highbeams 20ft behind you are pissing you off..
Bloke found out last night, I pulled over let him past, then followed him after I lit the 240s in his eyes instead.... :armsup: :armsup: :armsup: Im going to wire up my 181's this way on the back of car too... flick a switch and BLING....

Its a 2nd hand ARB that I had modified for the body lift and reversing lights. I also had it powder coated.

fog lights work better than spotties as reversing lights

Indeed, but better yet, find something with a true flood pattern.

Flood pattern 55 watt and completely legal as long as switched by reverse and not aimed too high (or so I was told by WA dept of transport).
