Try 2
I am new to this forum, although have been on the original Disco and Rangie forum for years.
At 55 I am pretty old for a Vitara , but also have a 92 Rangie, Mazda 93 bubble for wife and a Honda 900 Hornet to ride to work in Sydney CBD.

I have a 88 JX Virtara soft top on Magnetic island in Queensland, which I only get to use every 6 or 12 months.
Last time I went to start it the carby was blocked with crap even though I had put fuel conditioner in.
Pulled it down. first shock $200 for OEM carby kit.which consisted of 2 gaskets and 2diaphrams. Anyway pulled it down 10 times but cannot get it to run right. I ssuspect I have swapped the main jets, as I was pretty full of the flu and not sharp.
Question1 Has anyone got a Mikuni Solex in bits? if so could they look at the main jets and see if the big one should be in the primary or secondary side. I assumed the bigger one to the secondary should be bigger as the venturi is bigger. I think now that this is wrong.
question 2 In a fit of pique I bought a Weber 32/36 from ebay. Can anyone suggest jet sizes for a Vitara.
The carby is from a 2 litre Cortina so has ( or should have)
Venturis 26/27
Main jets 140/140
emulsion f50/f50
air correction 170/160
idle 60/50

I think ide and air correction will be OK but I suspect that i wiill have to reduce the secondary main.
Also, I have bought a Vitara fitting kit, but this does not include an accelerator cable. the cable has to come from the left instead of the right. Any ideas on where to source or experience on how overcome??
An help appreciated

if the carby was off a cortina then it will have a 127 primary jet and a 132 secondary jet or about those sizes.
those jet sizes should be fine for a 1.6

i have a 'spare' mikuni carby in the garage, but i'm not sure if its 100% complete, like its in two halves. i can take photos for you if you still want pics.

let me know.

Thanks. All I want to see is which side of the bowl the bigger main jet is.
The main jets are located in the bottom of the plastic carby bowl. Looking from the top with the venturis toward you,the primary one is on the left.
What I want to know is if the hole in the primary main jet is bigger or smaller than the one in the secondary. They are noticably different but they do not have numbers on them.
A close up photo would be good but it would be diffcult to get I think.
