Can you use more than one aerial for on radio? Like a long one and a short one?

Not as far as I know, but I've seen alota ppl having two sticks wired up & swapping them as the terrain dictates.

You can have 2 different arials for different terrain (hilly or flat), but don't splice the 2 leads into 1 plug. Have separate leads and plug the one you want to use into the rig.

Would be worth it only if you spend a lot of time out west, and a lot of time in mountains.

You can run two aerials (AM) at the same time but only really if they are about the same size - you would only want to do it if you have them front/back or side/side.

It is done sometimes to get a more even transmission coverage. You used to see trucks with twin AM aerials - one above either door. Due to UHF and repeaters there is really no point now.

This can be done easily, first note, this will only work on a Ute, preferrably with truck type exhausts. Add some Jim Beam stickers, bull horns to the front bar, and CAT mud flaps...

Now you can attach multiple white fiberglass antennas!!

If using an AM 27MHz set try and use an antenna thats a division of the band example a 9 foot stainless, great for AM transmission however 9 feet of antenna is plain stooooopid, they are uncontrollable offroad, whip around and get caught on everything. Im about to disconnect my AM set, and was thinking of doin the same with the UHF due to free to air transmission laws now, it sucks, there's sooo many dickheads on there now,, my set is modded up hard which helps with the users that think they can dump mud over the top of everyone else.
