Outer Limits 4x4 Board

IM getting a MACK TRUCK INTERCOOLER cut down + new tanks welded up at hyperflow wolongong and was thinking has any one used flexible exhaust piping to connect to turbo and inlet as being flexible I could have a nice continuous flowing pipe without the tight radius bend`s that most people use.
The idea hit me when I rembered fitting a diesel fire fighting booster pump a while ago which had about 2m of flexy exhaust about 2" round
Any one know how much this pipe cost ? I think its spot on for front mount`s

i just used some custome made ally for mine....cost all up 150 buckerooness and just used 40psi rated belted hose for mine

I heard of someone using flexi stuff for this and they had dramas with the pipe expanding and contracting under boost.

i used the appropriate sized thin walled alloy tube, and mandrel type rubber bends for my installation. Truck supplies places should be able to supply the parts. There is a place on the highway at Burpengary near Brissie that has a good range. My tube cost about $10 a metre, and the bends are about $13 for a 90deg, and about $25 for a 45 deg bend. I havent had any probs in the last couple of years with the set up.

I went to JUST JAP reckers this arvo and brought some 50mm steel bend`s for the turbo to intercooler side and 65mm bends for cooler to inlet side of things.
The bend`s are of the big radius type so should flow good cost 50smacks for the lot but im still looking for
2 40MM TO 50MM REDUCER or tapering hose as turbo and inlet is 40mm

And 2` 50mm to 65mm reducer or tapering hose
Any ideas where to look for these. Mabe ile have to fork the $$ out for new ones

i used mild steel exhaust tube. aparently good ol mild steel gets rid of the heat the best. cheap to. Got a few mandrel 90s and cut them to the angles needed and just mig'd it together. used orange turbo hose from pirtek for flex joints onto cooler, manifold and turbo. got told to stay away from stainless, looks good but holds heat.

[/quote] prob go to an exhaust joint and ask them or find a mate whose handy with a welder

I would think mild steel is best for intercooler to manifold side of things as being thicker it would reduce heat soak fron hot engine
But thiner metal such as aloy or stainless could be better from turbo to cooler as it`s better for cooling if the heat get`s lost on the way to intercooler
The bends I got are kinda thick but not as thick as mild steel so should be ok

samco make a silicone hose for that purpose, jap speedshops will have it or know where to get it, got to have some flex due to engine movement, the silicone stuff comes in different bling colours, bends radii, and diameter.
