35's and clashes

Have an 80 series with 35's and 6 inch suspension lift.

On full articulation the tyre hits the mudflap.

I removed them for a while but it makes the car look so much higher and draws attention from the police. So, i put them back on,

However last week i ripped one of and broke the flare.

The other option was to just remove them when off road. But was worried about rocks hitting the back of vehicle, and when on the beach, sand blasting the paint off the back.

Just wondering what other people have done?
thanks
steve

It's obviously a GXL. I was running 35's with my flaps on i just had to cut right back to where the bolts go in. Now running 36's no flaps. :D

must be the rear flaps - I have no dramas with 37's and only 3" coils and 2" body - fronts are fine!!

Oh well.

Either run em or not!

yes it's an 80 gxl and its the rear flaps only.
I am only talking on absolute full articulation.

Do you reckon i would do damage to the rear of car if i took them off. eg sand rocks.

You could cable tie them on, tht way if they snag the ties will pop off.

I used to run cable tied flaps and cut them off for offroad (They were only for keeping the police happy)
