buzzzz.....wrong
the 2.8L aka L28 was put into Nissan Z cars here in the states and maybe even Nissan 720's. You can get parts for the motor pretty easily. Weber's will go on the motor and so will Z car fuel injection, so skip the stock carb rebuild.
Go on over to
www.nissan4wheelers.com and ask the same questions. Those guys know Nissans/Datsuns and can tell you everything you want to know about the L28 plus where to get parts, easy mods and more....right here in the USA.
Now if you had a TD42 it would be a different story but all the MQ/MK motors were put in other things in the USA...ie scouts & forklifts for the SD33(t), Z car for the L28 and forklifts got the P40. Parts are out there in the USA and fairly cheap.

yes it is the same basic motor as a 280 zx but the carb is different and nobody can get parts for it.all 280s came with efi.if im going to go to the trouble of switching it to efi i will find a turbo 280.so far i havent found one yet so i will just get thiscarb to work till i do.thanks

cool man...just making sure you knew.
Unless you can get the Z stuff for cheap and fit for cheap I would just get a v8 kit. Cause I got the feeling you want power and likely pretty easy to find a cheap v8 up there.

The carby isn't anything special, it was fitted to various Japanese vehicles. It would be either a Nikki or Hitachi. Either way a Weber 32/36 DGV is a simple bolt on with an appropriate adaptor plate.
Check the catalogue out at this site
http://www.nardek.com.au/ to work out what you are after.

yes a lot more power would be nice.i have a 4.3 v6,350 sb,400 sb and a 454 all sitting on the shelf right now and some 1 ton axles but i would like to keep this thing as close to nissan as i can since the mqs are so rare here in the us.the reaction from people over it is great.if it was all chevy running gear it would detract from that so im looking at other power plant options that are made by nissan.so far i havent run out of power when it is running correctly even with the 35s.there are pics of it on northern 4x4 suppliers forum. thanks for all the info i have gotten from this site.it has helped building this thing much easier. mike

right on...you have changed you ways/ideas a bit then. Before you wanted v8 power! I think you can get a lot out of that motor if you coax it right.
