Spend a few extra dollars and atleast get a Navara. My uncle has a 720 with a Commodore V6 in it, and it still isn't half the vehicle my dads Tray Back Pathfinder is, or the Navara it replaced.

DONT DO IT!!!!!!! THEY ARE SHIT.

I am a one eyed Nissan man but I will reccomend you buy a Gutlux before a 720. If you have the extra money buy a Navara as they are much better.

720s are so crap in the bush it is embarrasing where they wont go. My mates one used to go up hills better in reverse than forwards.

The gearboxes are also a bit weak.

I do believe they use the same tranny as an L28 MQ/MK Patrol. Divorced transfer and all that. Could be wrong but I don't think so....perhaps it is just the transfer they share?

anymore info on parts interchange would be greatly apprecated.if the 720 has parts that will work on a mq that would be great.

Spot on RMP&O, they are also a bugger to get out, you have to remove the front diff to remove the tranny.

Navaras are one peice & so much easier to remove.

Not sure weather it is exactly the same, they might be a lighter duty unit. The gearbox is the standard nissan 5 speed design used in all Datsuns during the 70s-80s. They had varioud different ratios and specifications.

PM RMP&O, he may be able to match the gearboxe through parts lists or dealer specs.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does anyone know if there are diferent bodys that can bolt on to the 720s?

Navara perhaps?

A non rusted 720 cabin does not appear to exist in Australia

Don't worry its not isolated :bad-words: :bad-words: They are the same in NZ. I've been told that the early nivaras will bolt up and have even been given a good body (Nivara). Its about 4hrs away and as you know the 720 wouldn't tow the skin off a rice pudding. I'll do a mission with the trailer in tow soon. I don't have much choice......... The passenger window wiper is not secured at all neither is the passengers bonnet hinge, don't get me started on the sills and guttering. If I roll it............... I'm dead!!!!!!
