Fuel Warning

I'm probibly stating the obvious but WOOLWORTHS FUEL IS CRAP !!!!!!!
My wife fueled up last night from Woolies and i had to drive out to Dalby today (300km return) and got a gut full of water. This in turn did wonders for the running of my 4.2 diesel Patrol. Anyway after i got towed home

i rang the servo and they couldn't give a rats ass, so i did some ringing around to a few mechanic mates, it turns out there are heaps of people from Gold Coast, Sunny Coast, Brissy to out here at Kingaroy all suffering some sort of shit fuel trouble. Ieven spoke to 2 different chainsaw mechanics and they also have trouble.
Not only do we get ripped on cost of fuel but we are paying for crap
The warning is this don't buy from Woolies. They may geve 4cents/lt off, but you'll get caught sooner or later.
THE FUEL COMES FROM THE SHELL REFINERIES BUT NOT THE SAME TANKS!!! This the word from the tanker drivers who actually carry the stuff!!

the fuels bought and sold by the discount servos can sometimes be good and mostly bad! it may be made by one of the bigger companies but is sold to the cheapies as it didnt reach their standards. the fuel is dosed with additives to meet gov't regulations and is not that good.
the safway fuels in vic are "caltex" yeh right. the only thing i would get from them is LPG.

Even their LPG can be sus, I have had a couple of tanks from them that have caused problems. I only use BP and so far have had no probs since.

This may be a bit out of date (published in 2002) but could help dispel some of the rumours about Woolworths fuel:

Damn straight they can produce all the legislative material they want. At the end of the day it's like Johnny Howard telling us to trust him.
They shake your hand with the right and rob you with the left.

I guess it must be the luck of the draw then. I have a woolworths servo just up the road from me and that is all I use. I have used them ever since the woolworths servo thing started and I've never had a single problem. I can't comment on diesel though but I always use their unleaded and premium.

Water can be picked up from any servo. It either gets there from leaky tanks, bad dose from the fuel truck or heavy rains. The last one usually happens at older servos in the country.
Another source of water contamination is from condensation in the vehicles fuel tank. People who live in humid climates often suffer water in the fuel.

I always fill up at the local Caltex/Safeway servo - with the Caltex premium, and I've never had a problem.

I've filled up my diesel Landcruiser at Caltex servo's a lot and haven't had a single problem with fuel
