Bent Leaf Springs

After a pretty awesome Sunday at Cabbage Tree and Wheeny Creek (Kurrajong area, Sydney), I've come home with some seriously bent front leaves on my 93 hilux :x .

Can anyone suggest a solution to stop this occuring? A mate of mine did a spring conversion to get around it but I don't have the finances or time to do this.

Is it possible to put a rear set of leaves in the front, as they're usually set up for carrying more weight? In theory, wouldn't this also push the front axle a couple of inches forward as well?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you still have the front diff locating arm still attached corectly?
How many leaves in the pack? If you remove to many they will buckle.
