Hi - hope you can help! I am trying to get to the back of my radio (Disco series 1 1999) so I can plug an antenna in. - How do I remove the radio, or is there an easier way to get to the back of it? :D

Just pull on it. Should come straight out, if memory serves me correctly.

You need a couple of bladed thingys, to slip vertically down the ends & release the catches, & pull with a third hand, if you know what I mean.

But I don't know where you' buy or borrow these, haven't seen them for a while. (I watched Graeme Coper pull mine out)

Don't listen to MaxTd5, up2nogood is right. I've just replaced the radio in my 98 Discovery in the last 10 mins.

I too had read on the net that there are special keys that need to be slotted down the side. I didnt have anything handy so i just popped into the local JB and asked the installation guys if they would mind getting it out for me seeing as I didnt have a key thing.

He puts his fingers into the cassette slot and just gives it a pull. Out it pops!!! At this point i felt a bit stupid!!

You can damage the dash surrounds - if you just 'pull out' the radio .
Your local car stereo installer can remove the radio in 'seconds' - without any damage to the dash .
Just a matter of the 'right tools for the job'
Then you can install the new radio yourself - by following the instructions provided with the new 'head unit' .

Gently pull on the unit while "wiggling" it side to side.

If the sucker ain't gonna move then take to radio joint. Or, if you have your replacement radio already, use the keys it came with.

Or a hammer and pry bar. :D
