I don't have a Owners Manual so it would be great if someone could tell me what this warning light is!
Its a round circle with what looks like gear teeth on it, inside the circle is a Key looking thingy!!!
Its red.
The disco is a 94 V8i auto.
The light came on, temp was fine. Pulled over and had a look under the bonnet at the belts and all looked ok. Driving along for about 2 minutes and then the light went off!!
What is it???

Sounds like the transfer case heat warning indicator. Check the fluid in your transfer case.

According to my Disco owners manual it is the Transmission Oil Temperature warning light.

The sender unit, which is towards the front left of the engin bay, is very sensative to water. I had a similar problem after some deep water crossings. I had the unit replaced and have been advised to disconnect it while crossing rivers as it short circuits - apparently it copes with getting wet while its not connected.

Argh, well on Sunday i drove threw about 8 water crossings after all the rain. Nothing Deep but enough to create a small bow wave!!!
I will change the fluid in the T/Case and if it still comes on then i know its the sender!
