correctly setting up panhard bar

i just bought a adjustable panhard bar and was wondering what is the correct way to set it up?

put it on car first.
Measure from guard to the tyre on both sides and adjust accordingly.
Pretty basic.

remove old panhard rod.
use a ratchet strap to pull body to central position.
adjust and fit new panhard rod.

Remove wheels and suport diff on axle stands, measure from disk or drum on each side to the chassis and adjust accordingly.
