Vitara break calipers

What's the policy on break calipers? I want to put 31's on the vitara but they're on 15's and I would need to grind about 4mm off the back of the calipers for them to fit. It would make no difference to the structual integrity of the calipers, just shaving the solid metal down 4mm as I said. Is there any sort off legal issues I need to worry about before I do this?
