Hey calling all you hilux owners, those with turbo's on your 2.8 whats a relatively safe rev change on road and off? When you rev it to 4000 it sounds like the engine is working like a 22yr old virgin getting his first root, what sort of wear and tear do these 3l's get at this rev??
Cheers boys
P.s I wouldn't actually know what a 22yr virgin would be like getting his first root but I could imagine. Just in case I gave you the wrong idea, and for you 22yr old virgins out there i'm sure you will get a root sumday. Geez i've made this msg into a controversial topic haven't I.

Generally I don't find there is much gain over 3000, since I turboed mine it'll happily rev to 3500, anything over that doesn't seem to achieve much although sometimes when I've been bouncing around on rocks I've looked down to see the tacho bouncing around 4000ish

you will only be able to rev it as high as the governor lets you unless serious down shifting, you wouldn't reek many rewards going as high as 4 grand.

3500 usually, maybe a bit more if i'm in a hurry.
4000+ when your gotta clean the mud outta your tyres ;)
180000kms up, 120000 with turbo on. I hope it's got another 120000+ in it.

As for the other er, I can't remember :?

From memory I used to change at about 3500. Only went higher when in mud but wasn`t often at all.

Technically roads should be designed so that the "loaded truck does not suffer any reasonable loss in speed".

Damm.. i thought i got rid of that brain cell last week, oh well.
