There are quite a few decent pipe benders on the market, it all comes down to how much you're willing to pay and how much labour you're likely to lend towards your work. After using offset holesaws for a few years for notching, i have to say that the forbes notcher is probably the best investment you can make (esp. if you are planning a lot cage work etc.)
Apart from making sure you use the correct mandrel for pipe dia. the best advice i can give is to mark each tube lengthwise with a line (when using seamless pipe) as the biggest hassle i ever have is the pipe 'rotating' slightly when doing multiple bends

try and find a bender like the jd2 or the pro tools types as the bow and arrow style benders suck ass

I have a speedworz bender and notcher and it works very well and is Australian Made ...
Can happily recommend them.
I also have a Tube Mills True Bend but they start at around $35 000 with dies and need 3 phase power ... nice bender though ..

i have a speedwerx bender and notcher. the bender is accurate and easy to use. the notcher is shit plain and simple. i have not found one single use for it yet as it is single plain. i use 50mm and 38mm tube. the saws are too short to cut all the way through so you have to cut it very close firstr and 99% of the time you need to take it out and cut the peice off and re allign it and finish the cut. it is so slow. you cannot use it on or near bends. it is shit. th ebiggest waste of $400+ in my life. it has a pathetic base too.
no substitute for skill and a grinder
the only other complaint is the edges are lazer cut and un dressed and sharp as. so dangerous without riggers. and i don't want to take the grinder to the electroplating.
cheers bru

We also have these and find both to be fantastic. Maybe you were expecting too much from a notcher? Ours has been used thousands of times and we have only had a few instances where we cant get the tube in the right position to notch. If you are ever in the Logan area im sure we can show you a trick or 2 on how to use it and it also nothches on more than one plane you just have to think about how to do it a little more.
Our bender is the Air over Hydro model and has so far done about 6 Tube Buggies and a heap of Cage work. It also bends exhasts for us. Its still as good as the day we bought it.

A notcher is basicaly a heavy duty hole saw support so you can cut holes through tube to get it to match up with another piece of tube to make welds neater and stronger.
