while we are on this subject,
has anyone used the steering helm from aboat for this ?? i cant see why a boat hydraulic steering setup shouldnt work, maybe just use a larger pump but instead of feeding it from the steering box on your 4x4 just use the normal boat setup?

full hydro you will get wacked with a speed limit of 45k (well in nsw you do)
hydro assist uses your steerign thats already there and runs a ram from the top of your diff to the tierod (make sure its beef) prolly best to do it if you have Histeer

spaz.... yeah the hydro assist sounds like a goer but what about like a retern to center like set up? is there anything like that, that has a quick enough fllow rate? what will i need for it? ram, what type of control box, for the fluid that is and could i run just the standard hilux pump or would i have to up grade? to say a bigger chevy pum etc

Why do you want return to centre?
You can use the standard pump just got drill a bigger out let hole and also need a cooler a relief valve and a bigger reservoir.Hydro assist is good if you break somthing or it fails you can still steer a bit

yeah i guess.... do i can use standard parts but just use the ram with the upgraded steering box and res tank! sounds good. but what i wanted to no was that will the steering return to center with the extra drain from the power steer box and stay going one way and u would have toassist in the return to center?
anyway getting pritty pissed at the moment hope people understand this

does your current steering return to center
i wouldnt want auto return to center on hydraulics as you would have to fight it to keep it on lock etc

Orbitrol steering valves from Eaton Hydraulics
http://hydraulics.eaton.com/products/steer_main.htm are usually used for full hydaulic steering.
Steering wheel fits onto the steering valve shaft.
